After 22 months, Ludhiana today got a new mayor of the largest municipal corporation of the state. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councilor and school principal Inderjit Kaur has been elected mayor of Ludhiana. Rakesh Prashar has been made Senior Deputy Mayor and Prince Johar as Deputy Mayor. This is the first time in the city’s history that a woman has been appointed to the mayor’s chair. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President Aman Arora congratulated all the newly elected office bearers and said that Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Administration under the leadership of Aam Aadmi Party will work with full honesty and transparency and pave the way for the development of the city.
Aman Arora said that today a new chapter has started in Ludhiana. Aam Aadmi Party has given a woman mayor to Ludhiana for the first time. Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar is also very experienced. He has become a councilor for the sixth time. He recalled the late former Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Gogi and said that it was his heartfelt wish that Aam Aadmi Party should become the Mayor of Ludhiana with an absolute majority. He said that the long stalled development works will be completed soon and new plans will be drawn up to make the city beautiful and clean. He said that keeping the city clean and providing basic facilities to the people is our first priority for which our mayor, deputy mayor and all the councilors will work day and night.
