What did Sonu Sood say?
Talking to ‘HT City’, Sonu Sood said, ‘I am happy for him. I didn’t say he needed a job. I said, ‘Sign him and give him an advance because he deserves it’.
What was Rajpal Yadav’s statement?
Earlier, Rajpal Yadav had given a sharp reaction to Sonu Sood’s statement in an interview given to ‘Screen’. He had said, ‘Please get out of this misconception that I need to ask for work and there is no shame in asking for work. I survive from my job, cinema is my passion and I work in such a way that I get four times more work. I work even on holidays. Work does not find me, it has been with me for the last 11 years. Rajpal also claimed that he has branding projects worth Rs 1200 crore for the next seven years and 10 films in the line. Describing himself as ‘a man worth Rs 1500 crore’, he said that he has been working for 26 years and he has no dearth of work.
What did Sonu Sood say?
Let us tell you that when Rajpal Yadav went to Tihar Jail in the check bounce case, Sonu Sood was the first to come forward in his support. He had appealed to the industry by posting on social media, ‘Rajpal Yadav is a talented actor. Sometimes times become quite cruel. He will be a part of my film and I believe it is time we all stand together. A small signing amount, which can be adjusted against future work, is not charity, but respect.
What is the whole matter?
A case was registered against Rajpal Yadav in 2010 for taking Rs 5 crore. He had taken this amount for his directorial debut film ‘Ata-Pata Lapata’, but the film flopped. Due to non-payment of money, this matter turned into a check bounce case. In April 2018, the court had convicted Rajpal and his wife and sentenced them to 6 months imprisonment. In June 2024, the High Court had stayed his sentence, but on February 2 this year, the court ordered him to surrender. Later he got interim bail till 18 March.
