Patna, 18 December
BJP’s Bihar unit president Dilip Jaiswal today said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will contest the 2025 assembly elections in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He also dismissed the possibility raised by Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comment in response to a question about JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar.
In an interview with a private news channel, former BJP president Shah refrained from giving a straight answer when asked if the NDA would adopt a Maharashtra-like strategy in Bihar, where it will go to polls without declaring its chief ministerial candidate. landed in and won a great victory. Shah had said, “We will sit together and take a decision on this issue. Once we take a decision, we will let you know.”
From this answer of Shah, various fears have been expressed about the fate of Nitish Kumar in the political circles here. However, when Jaiswal was asked about this, he said, “As the head of the state unit of the party, I can tell you that we have been instructed to work for the victory of the NDA in 2025 with Nitish Kumar as the leader. Amit Shah’s statement should be seen in proper context.” Minister Jaiswal in the Nitish Kumar cabinet said, “Decision about leadership is something that I am not competent to take despite being the state president. The party constitution is something that even top leaders like Shah follow. Therefore, he decided not to comment on such an issue. Decisions are never made by an individual.”
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (MLP), a partner party of the ‘India’ coalition, said that Kumar needs to be on guard against the treacherous character of the BJP. -News-Patiala
