OpenAI ChatGPT: ChatGPT, one of the world’s most popular AI chatbots, is becoming increasingly popular in India. According to reports, India has now become the second largest market of ChatGPT after America. In view of this increasing popularity, OpenAI has started a special initiative for Indian students “Chats for Students in India” in which the company told how college students across the country, especially students of institutions like IIT Madras, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Delhi Technical Campus, are using ChatGPT in their studies and projects.
Education became the biggest use of ChatGPT
OpenAI says that ChatGPT is being used most for educational purposes in India. Students are using it not just for notes or assignments, but as an intellectual partner to hone real-world skills like problem-solving, analytical thinking and creativity.
Top ChatGPT usage by Indian students
OpenAI has shared 54 real use cases on its website, including actual prompts used by students. Some of these interesting uses are as follows.
exam preparation
A student prompt “I have a test in my Operating Systems class tomorrow and I want to score full marks. The test consists of 5 MCQs and 2 situation-based questions. Explain the important topics to me so that I can learn quickly and effectively.” Along with this, he also added a PDF file of the related topic so that ChatGPT can give accurate and referenced answers.
Creating a Study Schedule
Another student told ChatGPT, “I have SEE exams coming up. Prepare a day-wise study schedule for me that includes revision, practice tests and breaks so that I can stay focused.” In this also the student uploaded his syllabus so that the answer is based on real data.
making difficult subjects easy
Many students ask ChatGPT to explain complex topics in simple language, such as “Explain the Dining Philosopher Problem like I’m a complete beginner.”
Learning through role-play
In an interesting prompt, the student said “Explain to me why things float, but imagine yourself as Archimedes.” This made learning fun and memorable.
Pre-grading of assignments
Many students ask ChatGPT to “Be my professor, grade my assignments and tell me where improvements are needed.”
setting email tone
“Write an email in three tones — 1) formal (for HOD), 2) semi-formal (for faculty advisor), 3) friendly (for project partners),” a student told ChatGPT. This helped students learn the right tone for different professional situations.
