Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to a Sydney hospital and shifted to the ICU after suffering internal bleeding following a rib injury during the third ODI against Australia.
Iyer took a sensational catch while running to remove Alex Carey from backward point, but while catching it, he injured his left rib cage. Shortly after returning to the dressing room he was taken to hospital with severe discomfort.
A report by news agency News-Patiala suggested that Iyer is currently receiving medical attention in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering internal bleeding due to a rib cage injury.
“Shreyas has been in the ICU for the past few days. After reports came in, internal bleeding was detected, and he had to be admitted immediately.
“He will be under observation for anywhere between two to seven days depending on the recovery, as there is a need to prevent the spread of infection due to bleeding,” a source privy to the development told News-Patiala on condition of anonymity.
