After feedback Google stopped Ask Photos feature updated version will come soon

Google has temporarily closed its new AI feature ‘Ask PHOTOS’ for the moment. This decision has been taken after the frequent complaints received by the users, in which the slow speed of the feature, low quality and problem in use were said.

The ‘Ask Photos’ feature was launched for selected users as testing last year. Its aim was that people could find a particular photo by asking questions in common language in their photo gallery. For example, the users could ask, “Show the photos of the previous Diwali” or “Show the photo in which the cake is.”

This feature is based on Google’s Gemini AI model, which understands the text, face, events and other things in the photo and shows the right result to the user.

But recently many users expressed displeasure over its performance. After this, Google’s product manager Jamie Aspinol informed the X (first Twitter) that “Ask Photos is not at that level right now, as we thought.” He also said that the feature has been closed for very few users at the moment and the company will improve it again.

New and better version will come soon

Google has said that a new version of this feature will be introduced within about two weeks, in which speed, result of result and user experience will be improved.

Improves other features of search

Along with ‘Ask Photos’, some improvements have also been made in the normal search capacity of Google photos. Now users can use “quotes” (“”) while searching photos so that they can get an absolutely accurate result. Such as the text present in the file name, camera model, caption or photo.

If the user does not use the quotes, then now Google will also show them the results similar to the visual match.

Ai continuous monitoring on features

Significantly, this is not the first time Google has stopped one of its AI features in the middle. Earlier, features like ‘AI Overview’ and ‘Gemini Image Generator’ were also temporarily closed by the company, when complaints of wrong information or historical disturbances were revealed about them.

Google’s commitment

Google says that it wants to make photo browsing more easy, fast and closer to human language through AI. The company intends that users should now get the facility to search in colloquial language instead of typing only keywords.

Currently, ‘Ask Photos’ may be closed, but its main objective is still intact – give users a smart, easy and new way to reach their memories.
