A day after Shiromani Akali Dal’s decision to accept the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal and start the new recruitment process of the organization from January 20, Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Raghbir Singh today said that the Akal Takht has been formed for the recruitment of Shiromani Akali Dal. The seven-member committee still stands today and should be functional. In the working committee meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal held on Friday, ignoring the above seven member committee, the party has deployed its senior leaders as observers.
Talking to the media here, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh said that if the seven-member committee formed by the Akal Takht was not mentioned, it is a part of the attitude of indifference. He indirectly expressed his unhappiness with the decision of the Shiromani Akali Dal that the decision made by the Akal Takht should be implemented immediately. The Jathedar said that he has already said that the orders passed by the Akal Takht on December 2 should be implemented in-bin. He said that the acceptance of the resignation of Sukhbir Singh Badal by the working committee of Shiromani Akali Dal is welcome. He said that about the other Akali leaders, whose resignations have been rejected, the party spokesperson has clarified that their resignations were already rejected in the register. He said that the decision to start the recruitment process for the election of the party president and other office bearers has been made following the orders of the Akal Takht.
Remember that a delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal had met with Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh the other day and informed him that the committee formed by Akal Takht cannot conduct elections as per the constitution of the party and this is a legal obstacle. In this case, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh said that he has been given documents in this regard by some lawyers and a performance of the Election Commission has also been given. They don’t know any more than that.
