More than 12 slums of migrant workers caught fire in the middle of the night in village Garhi Tarkhana on the banks of Sirhind Canal. Due to this, seven animals died due to scalding and clothes, cash and ration of the victims were burnt. In this regard, the victim Sonu said that the roof of his slum caught fire at around 12 o’clock in the night. He drove the family out and shouted. More than 12 slums were gutted in a few moments. He said that the victims first took out their families and then tried to take out the animals but by then the animals were scorched. Due to this, six goats, one cow, motorcycle, cash worth about one lakh rupees, ration and clothes etc. got burnt. Because of this, Sita Ram Mukhya’s clothes shop and another woman’s clothes and boots shop got burnt.
On receiving the information, the fire brigade brought the fire under control. Among the victims, Ramesh Kumar, Biren Chaudhary, Vinod Sahni, Manoj Sahni, Satgaj Chaudhary, Darshi, Bal Chand, Gori, Lal Chand, Jagan Sahni, Tinku Sahni, Vicky Kumar, Nandan Sharma, Sita Devi and Sunita have helped the administration and donors. has appealed to Police chief Pavitar Singh, who reached the spot, said that the accident is being investigated.
