Parliament Winter Session: Uproar in both Houses of Parliament about Ambedkar, opposition parties raised slogans of ‘Jai Bheem’

New Delhi, December 18

The Congress and other opposition parties gathered in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today for the comment made by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah with reference to Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, after which the proceedings of both the Houses were adjourned. The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm just two minutes after it started. As soon as the House convened, the opposition parties started a ruckus. They raised the slogans of ‘Jai Bheem’. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal targeted the Congress and said that the Congress always disrespected Babasaheb and defeated him in the election as well. He said, “These people always disrespected Babasaheb. We always respected him.” Meghwal said that because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s works related to Babasaheb, these people are compulsively taking the name of Babasaheb. As the uproar continued in the House, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings of the House till two in the afternoon. The Congress and opposition parties alleged that Shah disrespected Babasaheb during his address in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The main opposition party also released a video of Shah’s address, in which the home minister can be heard taunting the opposition, saying, “Now it’s become fashionable… Ambedkar, Ambedkar….” If you take this much name of God, you will get heaven for seven births.

Uproar in the Rajya Sabha too

The opposition parties also created an uproar in the Rajya Sabha over Amit Shah’s comment about Constitution maker Babasaheb Ambedkar. The Upper House was adjourned till 2 pm shortly after the proceedings began. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar kept the necessary documents in the house when the meeting of the house started. Dhankhar told the House that he had received a notice under Rule 267, which was given by SP’s Ramji Lal Suman. They have appealed to postpone the regular work to discuss the condition of the farmers. The chairman said that SP members can raise this issue during zero call.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties alleged that the Home Minister has disrespected the Constitution maker Babasaheb Ambedkar, for which he should apologise. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju said, “We have listened well in the House over the past few days. The Home Minister expressed respect and respect for him (Ambedkar). He told how the Congress disrespected Baba Sahib. Congress defeated him again in the by-election. If the Congress had not defeated Babasaheb, he would have won the election even after 1952 and become a member of the House. He was not given the Bharat Ratna. -News-Patiala
