Agricultural scientists say that disposing of stubble in the field for 3 to 4 consecutive years significantly improves soil health. Straw provides a rich supply of nutrients to the soil. It increases the supply of key nutrients to the soil, such as about 1600 kg of organic carbon, 20-30 kg of nitrogen, 60-100 kg of potash, and 4-7 kg of phosphorus. In addition, it reduces the need for irrigation. The process also increases the number of beneficial bacteria in the field, allowing farmers to harvest bumper crops at lower cost the following season.
