Patiala:- Patiala Additional District Magistrate (ADC) Jagjit Singh has imposed Section 144 in the district, banning gatherings of five or more people. The order comes in the wake of recent incidents of violence in the city.
The order states that gatherings of five or more people could lead to disturbance of public peace, damage to government and non-government property, and other law and order problems. The ADC has asked people to cooperate with the authorities and refrain from gathering in groups of five or more.
The order will be in effect until October 4, 2023. It does not apply to gatherings of security personnel, police personnel on duty, and government programmes, weddings, and funerals.
The ADC has appealed to people to maintain peace and harmony in the district. He has also urged people to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
