On the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence, a function will be held at Raja Bhilander Singh Sports Complex Polo Ground in Patiala. In the district level function, Punjab Planning and Taxation and Excise Minister Harpal Singh Cheema will perform the national flag hoisting ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner of Patiala Sakshi Sahni gave a review of the full dress rehearsal of this event with SSP Deepak Pareek here on Saturday. He said that Harpal Singh Cheema will hoist the national flag on the occasion of August 15. They will observe the parade and give their message to the people of Punjab. After that, they will also take a salute from the magnificent march past.
The Deputy Commissioner said that in this parade, one troop of ITBP, two troops of District Police Patiala, one troop each of Punjab Police Women’s Wing and Home Guards along with boys and girls of NCC Army Wing, NCC Air Wing, Red Cross, Girls Guide and The band of IRB will join and the parade will be led by the parade commander D.S.P. (Headquarters) Daljit Singh will officiate.
She said that after the March Past, tables showing the development works will be taken out by various departments. A cultural program will be presented by school children. On this occasion, tent pegging and motorcycle stunts will also be shown.
She said that in this cultural program Government Girls Senior Secondary School Old Police Line, Victoria Girls Senior Secondary School, Government Girls Senior Secondary School New Power House Colony, Government Model School Philkhana, Government Multipurpose Girls Senior Secondary School Model Town, and Government Model Senior Secondary Girls students of School Civil Lines will take part.
While the students of different schools and colleges will perform bhangra under the leadership of the Principal of Government Mahindra College. Girls from different schools and colleges of Patiala will perform the folk dance Gidhe under the leadership of the principal of the government girls’ college. At the end of the event, the national anthem will be sung.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Cheema will honor the freedom fighters on this occasion. Will distribute wheelchairs, tricycles, and sewing machines to the needy. On this occasion, personalities doing commendable work in various fields will also be honored.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents of the Patiala district to take part in the district-level event. All the preparations have been completed for the successful implementation of this event. He said that efforts are being made by all the departments and the district administration to make this event memorable. Meanwhile, SSP Deepak Pareek said that adequate security arrangements have been made for the Independence Day celebrations.
