Malayalam actor and production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away in Kozhikode at the age of 62. He was suffering from kidney disease for a long time. The actor’s last rites will be held in Palakkad. There is a wave of mourning in the industry after the news of the actor’s death.
New Delhi. The news of the demise of Kannan Pattambi, a well-known actor and production controller of the Malayalam film industry, has left the industry in deep shock. At the age of 62, he said goodbye to the world. Kannan Pattambi, who was active in the film industry for almost three decades, had made a special mark for himself in important works related to production along with acting.
According to the information received, Kannan Pattambi was suffering from serious kidney related disease for a long time. He was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Kozhikode, Kerala, where he breathed his last during treatment. His death was confirmed by his elder brother and famous filmmaker Major Ravi.
Major Ravi shared an emotional post
Major Ravi paid tribute to his younger brother by sharing an emotional post on social media. He wrote in Malayalam that his beloved brother Kannan Pattambi passed away at 11.41 pm last night. He also informed that Kannan’s last rites will be performed today at 4 pm at his ancestral residence at Najangattiri in Palakkad district. At the end of the post he wished peace for his brother.
Kannan Pattambi was born in the year 1964 in Pattambi, Palakkad district of Kerala. His father P. Kuttishankaran Nair was an officer in the Indian Army, while his mother’s name was A.T. It was Satyabhama. He made notable contributions to the Malayalam film industry both as a production controller and actor. He was a very close associate of his brother Major Ravi, who became involved in film direction and production after retiring from the army.
Kannan Pattambi played an important role in the production of many films directed and produced by Major Ravi. Among these, ‘Mission 90 Days’ is especially notable, which was based on the experiences of Major Ravi during the investigation of Rajiv Gandhi assassination.
Worked in 23 Malayalam films
Talking about acting, Kannan Pattambi worked in about 23 Malayalam films and won the hearts of the audience with his powerful roles. He also shared the screen with superstar Mohanlal in many films. His famous films include ‘Pulimurugan’, which crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in Malayalam cinema. Apart from this, he was also seen in films like ’12th Man’, ‘Odiyan’, ‘Ananthabhadram’, ‘Vettam’, ‘Keerthichakra’, ‘Punaradhivasam’, ‘Crazy Gopalan’ and ‘Kandahar’.
