Lahore, January 7

In Pakistan’s Punjab province, two minor girls set fire to their alleged sexual abuser’s father. The police said that the incident took place at Mughal Chowk in Gujranwala, about 80 km from Lahore. Police said that Ali Akbar (48) had three marriages, from which he had ten children. Akbar’s first Begum had passed away and he was living in a rented house with his other two Begums and children.

According to the police, Akbar was sleeping on Monday when his 12- and 15-year-old daughters sprinkled petrol on him and set him on fire. Akbar was badly burnt in this incident. He was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The police took both the girls into custody and recorded their statements. The girls said that their father used to sexually abuse them. “We planned to kill our father, who used to sexually abuse us,” he said. We took petrol from Walid’s bike and sprinkled it on him and set him on fire.” The police said they would record the statements of both the victim’s sisters before registering a case of murder. -News-Patiala
