NCERT 2025 Changes- The year 2025 is now in its final phase, and the new academic session of 2026 is about to begin. So it is important for students, parents and teachers to know what major changes NCERT has made in the syllabus and textbooks. Under the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), the pattern of education is changing rapidly.
Now emphasis is being placed on understanding, practical knowledge, skills and life related education instead of rote beating. In this direction, NCERT has taken several important decisions to make the 2025 syllabus easier and more useful. Many old and cumbersome chapters have been removed, while new and interesting topics have been added to make learning interesting and useful for children.
NCERT has made significant changes in the history syllabus. Some chapters related to Delhi Sultanate and Mughal period have been omitted or shortened. Now the focus is more on ancient India, contributions of tribal and tribal communities, Indian scientists, culture and civilization. A new section has also been added to explain history from a new perspective. New textbooks have been released for classes IV, V, VII and VIII from the session 2025-26, which have simpler language and more modern content. The names of many books have also been changed.
Under the new education policy, skill-based education is being introduced from class VI. This means that children will not only read books but also learn projects, skills and practical tasks. Efforts have been made to link education with employment and future.
NCERT has included Swadeshi modules to promote vocals for a local and self-reliant India. Special modules have also been introduced for students of classes III to XII. In addition, bridge courses have been implemented to bridge the gap between the new and old syllabus. Overall, NCERT is calling this change a big step towards making education simpler, more useful and future-ready.
