Farmer leaders of Punjab said on Tuesday that if anything happens to farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been fasting for the past one and a half months, the situation may not be taken over by the central government. Farmer leader Abhimannyu Kohar said that the central government should solve the problems of farmers with seriousness. According to the farmers, the condition of Dallewal is continuously ‘deteriorating’ and ‘anything can happen’ to them at any time. Meanwhile, the farmers’ leaders, talking about the next programs, said that effigies of the BJP government will be blown across the country on January 10 regarding the central government’s attitude towards the farmers’ demands. The farmer leader said, “Dallewals are fighting to save the future of the country’s farmers.” After this, copies of the draft national policy on market farming will be burnt on January 13 at Lohri, while tractor marches will be held across the country on January 26.
Dallewal has been on fast for the last 43 days demanding legal guarantee of MSP among other demands. Dr. Avtar Singh, who is part of the team of the NGO ‘5 Rivers Heart Association’ involved in Dallewal’s health examination, said that Dallewal’s health had deteriorated on Monday evening. The doctor said that his blood pressure had fallen and he also vomited on the bed. He said that with each passing day his health is getting warmer and anything can happen to him. Meanwhile, a team of doctors also examined Dallewal on the Khanuri border. Farmers said that Dallewal’s health was critical on Tuesday and he could not even talk to anyone.
Farmer leader Kohar said, “God bless if something happens to Dallewal ji, the central government may not have control over the situation.” He said that the central government should not allow such a situation to happen. Kohar said, “If anything happens to Dallewal, it will be a ‘stain’ on the tenure of the present government at the Centre, which will never be washed away.” Blaming the central government, the farmer leader said that this did not happen even during the British rule. That a person is sitting on death fast and the government does not pay any attention to him.
