Rocket scientist V. Narayanan has been appointed as Secretary in the Department of Space at ISRO. He will replace S. Somnath, whose tenure ends next week. The Committee on Cabinet Appointments has approved the appointment of V. Narayanan. The appointment will be for a period of two years from 14 January 2025 or till further orders. The Secretary of the Department of Space also holds the charge of the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Somnath assumed the post of Secretary, Department of Space on 14 January 2022 for a period of three years. Narayanan, who is an eminent scientist of ISRO, has four decades of experience and has held many important positions in ISRO. -News-Patiala
