New Delhi, January 7

The Chief Electoral Officer has announced the dates for the Delhi Assembly elections. Polling for 70 Delhi Assembly seats will be held on February 5, 2024 and counting of votes has been fixed on February 8, 2024. After the announcement of the elections, those who are interested in the elections of the political parties have a period of one month.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar on Tuesday appealed to political parties to maintain decorum during the elections, saying the Election Commission would conduct an inquiry to ensure fairness. Kumar was addressing a press conference in Delhi to announce the program for the assembly elections. “We will check everyone to ensure money-free elections,” Kumar said. During the recent elections there was an outcry that some helicopters were inspected. People even threaten polling officers.

“Star campaigners and political campaigners have a duty to ensure that etiquette is followed, we will be very strict,” he said. Star campaigners should not act in such a way as to discourage the common voters.”

It may be mentioned that the by-elections for two assembly constituencies – Milkipur in Uttar Pradesh and Erode in Tamil Nadu will also be held on the same date. News-Patiala
