Punjab News: Young shopkeeper killed due to old grudge, friend injured


Punjab News: Police said on Tuesday that a 24-year-old shopkeeper was attacked and killed by attackers in Hoshiarpur district late on Monday night. He said that the incident took place near Garhdiwala bus stop around 10 pm on Monday.

Avinash, a resident of Mirzapur village, used to run a gift shop in Gaddiwala. He was with his friend Gagandeep Singh when at least 10 men in two cars attacked them, due to which both friends were seriously injured and the assailants fled the scene.

Both were taken to Dasuha Civil Hospital for treatment, where doctors declared Avinash brought dead, while his friend Gagandeep Singh was treated, police officials said. Later, a car used by the attackers in this incident met with an accident near Gondpur village. Police said that five people in the car sustained injuries and were admitted to the Civil Hospital.

Investigating officer Sub-Inspector Gursahib Singh said that an FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the law in the Garhdiwala police station. Police said the accused included Navjot Singh alias Happy of Gondpur, Rishi and Navjit Singh of Bathlan, Gurpreet Singh and Gaurav (all residents of Dadiana Khurd) along with four to five unidentified persons. Police said that preliminary investigation revealed that the attack was a result of old enmity between the accused and the deceased. -News-Patiala
