New Delhi, December 16
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is misleading the nation by distorting facts about Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s letter on reservation to states. Kharge demanded that the Prime Minister apologize for this. Participating in a debate in the Upper House on the ’75-year glorious history of the Constitution of India’, Kharge also accused the BJP leaders of indulging in ‘devotion’ to the Prime Minister. He said that due to this attitude of BJP leaders, the country is moving towards dictatorship. Kharge said that women’s reservation became a reality only because of the policies brought by the Congress. He assured that if he was in the government, he would have implemented reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies before the BJP. He claimed that BJP is against reservation and that is why they are opposing caste census. In his 79-minute speech, Kharge strongly opposed the BJP’s allegations that the Congress is against the Constitution. He described BJP’s promises as ‘jumla’. News-Patiala
