Union Home Minister Amit Shah today appealed to the Naxalites to lay down their arms and join the mainstream or else be ready for tough action by the security forces. He said that the government is responsible for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites. Addressing the sports event ‘Bastar Olympics’ in Jagdalpur here, Shah said that the country will be free from Maoism by March 2026.
He said, “I appeal to the Naxalites to come forward. To lay down arms and surrender and join the mainstream. Your rehabilitation is our responsibility.” Shah said that if the Maoists did not heed the appeal to surrender, they would be killed by the security forces. He said, “Chhattisgarh Police is committed to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pledge to make India Naxal-free by March 31, 2026.” News-Patiala
