1 Arrested with Fake Currency in Patiala

Patiala, October 20: A person has been arrested with fake currency worth Rs. 36,800 at the Urban Estate police station in Patiala. The accused has been identified as Lakhwinder Kumar, a resident of Kusht Ashram Tafjalpura.

 

According to the police, Lakhwinder Kumar was arrested on the basis of suspicion after he was stopped and checked at a checkpoint on the Chinarbagh road. Upon checking, the police recovered 200 and 500 notes of fake currency worth Rs. 36,800 from him.

 

The police further said that Lakhwinder Kumar had been procuring the fake currency from Haryana and bringing it to Patiala to sell it at lower rates. He had started this business about 15 days ago and a case of liquor smuggling had been registered against him earlier at the Urban Estate police station.

 

Lakhwinder Kumar has been booked under sections 420, 489 B, 489 C, and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He has been remanded to police custody and interrogation is underway.
