Patiala: Three women were killed and eight others injured in a road accident in Patiala district on Sunday. The accident took place when an autorickshaw carrying a group of women pilgrims returning from the Shyam Temple in Haryana fell into a drain.
The deceased have been identified as Reena Sharma, Gita (55), and Kamlesh. The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Patiala.
The police said that the autorickshaw was carrying 11 passengers, including the driver. The driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn and it fell into the drain.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
