The reason is that the Punjab government has not paid Rs 16 crore for the treatment of patients to PGI from 21 December 2021. Karna. PGI management says that on average 1200 to 1400 patients from Punjab are treated under this scheme every month. PGI was treating patients.

Also, the Punjab Health Authority was sending reminders for payment, but the Punjab government did not listen to the PGI. Hence, the PGI has refused to treat patients coming from Punjab under this scheme from August 1. PGI Management It is said that several meetings were held with the senior health officials of Punjab about this issue and letters were also sent, but they did not give any response.

Under the Ayushman Yojana, an enrolled patient gets free treatment up to five lakhs. In PGI, such poor patients who have chronic diseases come for treatment. Even cancer patients are given chemotherapy under this scheme. Chemotherapy has to be done after 21 days. If money does not come from the government and the patient’s therapy is not done, then the patient’s life can be lost.

Promised to pay on May 31

Prof. Sudhir Garg, Medical Superintendent of GMCH-32, says that the Punjab government has been written for the payment of 2.20 crores. The Health Department of the Punjab government had assured to make this payment on 31st May. He did not fulfill his promise until the beginning. Prof. Garg said that under this scheme, 60 percent of patients come from Punjab for treatment. We want to get treatment, but if the money does not come, then we also have to answer to the central government.
