These things will become more expensive due to GST
News Patiala: 15th July 2022 If you are going to the market to buy household items, check your budget and go. Many household items will become more expensive from Monday. This means that you will have to shell out a little more for the things you used to pay less for. Expensive items include cheese, yogurt, lassi, and butter. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs on Thursday informed the GST Council of its decision to abolish tax exemption for certain products including pre-packaged, pre-labeled yogurt, lassi, and buttermilk.
A meeting of the GST Council chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman decided to remove the exemption from these items. After that, these items will now be subject to GST at the rate of 5 percent. But, goods that are not packaged or do not come under any brand will continue to be exempt from GST.
What would be expensive
GST exemption on pre-packaged and labeled meat and fish, yogurt, lassi, cheese, honey, and grains has now been abolished. These items will be subject to GST at the rate of 5 percent.
From Monday, 18 percent GST will be levied on the charges levied by banks for issuing checks.
Now you have to pay more for a hospital room over Rs 5,000. It will have to pay 5 percent GST.
Map, Atlas, and Globe will attract GST at the rate of 12 percent.
You will also have to pay more for LED lights, fixtures, and LED lamps. Now 18 percent GST has to be paid on it. Earlier, the rate of GST on these goods was 12 percent.
GST on blades, knives, pencil sharpeners, etc. has been increased to 18 percent. In such a case, you will have to pay more for these things.
