News Patiala: Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar led by National Executive Member Jathedar Mohan Singh Kartarpur on Wednesday sent a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University through Deputy Commissioner Patiala protesting against the closure of the research department in Punjabi University. The research department should not be merged.

After handing over the demand letter through Deputy Commissioner, Jathedar Mohan Singh Kartarpur said that the demand letter has also been handed over to the Governor of Punjab regarding the non-merger of the research department, but the demand is not being considered. He said that unscrupulous decisions have been taken by the Vice-Chancellor to merge the department, which has been strongly opposed by Sikh organizations.

 Jathedar Mohan Singh Kartarpur warned that if the Vice-Chancellor of the University did not reverse his unconstitutional decision within 15 days, then the gates of the Punjabi University under the leadership of SAD Amritsar President Simranjit Singh Mann should be closed and an indefinite dharna should be called. Will be launched. Jathedar Mohan Singh Kartarpur said that the merger of the research department was affecting many major research projects. He said that the main objective of the university is research work. Without research, our next generation will be deprived of great history.

 Jathedar Mohan Singh Kartarpur demanded that the Governor of Punjab should immediately intervene personally to cancel the merger of the Punjab Department of Historical Studies and restore the status quo of both the departments. Apart from Gurcharan Singh Hawara Committee, Inderveer Singh Shaheed Bhai Taroo Singh Ji Seva Dal and other office bearers were present in the delegation.
