Around 100 students of Patiala Medical College tested positive for COVID on Monday. Acting on it, the authorities asked all students, residing in the hostel, to leave their rooms immediately.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Rajkumar Verka informed that there were around 1000 students in the college hostel and they have been asked to leave the hostel. He said a similar kind of situation was seen in the Adesh University, where several COVID cases were reported.

The situation is under control and the state government has directed the district administration and health department to put their best efforts. COVID tests of the students are being conducted by health teams,” said Verka while adding that CM Channi has called an emergency COVID review meeting on Tuesday to check the current status in all districts.

ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡਾ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇੱਥੇ 22 ਰੈਜ਼ੀਡੈਂਟ ਡਾਕਟਰ, 15 ਪੈਰਾ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਤੇ 35 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਬੱਚੇ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਪਾਜ਼ੇਟਿਵ ਪਾਏ ਗੲ ਹਨ। ਬੀਤੀ ਦੇਰ ਰਾਤ ਇਹ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਬਲਾਸਟ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸੰਦੀਪ ਹੰਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਦਾ ਜਾਇਜ਼ਾ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ।

ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਐਪੀਡੋਮੋਲੋਜਿਸਟ ਡਾ. ਸੁਮਿਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਰੋਨਾ ਕੇਸ ਦੇਰ ਰਾਤ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਏ ਹਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਚ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੋਸਟਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕੇਸ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਹੋਰ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਲਈ ਕੰਟੈਕਟ ਟ੍ਰੇਸਿੰਗ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹੀ ਖੋਜ ਤੇ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਰਾਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਵੇਰਕਾ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਚ 100 ਬੱਚੇ ਪਾਜ਼ੇਟਿਵ ਆਏ ਹਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੰਨੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਇਜ਼ਾ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਜਿੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਤੇ ਐੱਸ. ਐੱਸ. ਪੀ. ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਹਦਾਇਤਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ‌ਦੇ ਡੀ. ਸੀ. ਵਲੋਂ ਹੰਗਾਮੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ‌ਸੱਦੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
