                    District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Malerkotla Mrs. Madhavi Kataria has directed the Returning Officers of Assembly Constituency-105 Malerkotla and Assembly Constituency 106 Amargarh to personally visit all the 400 polling booths in view of the polling to be held on February 20. So that people do not face any difficulty in exercising their democratic right.

                             She said that ramps and wheelchairs should be provided at every polling booth especially for the convenience of physically challenged voters. Mrs. Madhavi Kataria informed that as per the voter list, a total of 3,24,159 voters have been registered in Malerkotla district. These include 1,71,645 male, 1,52,505 female voters and 09 transgender people. It may be recalled that 2005 voters were physically disabled in both the assembly constituencies of the district out of which 933 voters were in Malerkotla constituency out of which 591 were male and 342 were female voters and 1072 voters were in 106 Amargarh constituency out of which 683 were male. And 389 female voters are physically disabled.

               The District Electoral Officer said that the Returning Officers should ensure that the polling booths have electricity, drinking water, bathrooms, furniture, ramps, circles for covid distance, sign marks and waiting area. In addition, the number, name, BLO of the polling station should be displayed on each polling booth. The name and mobile number must be written.
