Brampton: A Sikh family began to fear sending their son to school

The identity of the family, however, has not been made public and the child’s mother said that in September last year, she enrolled her child in the Hanover Public School, where there are more than three hundred children. According to the family, initially the child was only verbally abused, but soon the attacks started. A complaint was made to the school about this but within a week the attack happened again. The students surrounded and thrashed the Sikh child. When the child started crying in pain, the fourth or fifth class children saved him. About two and a half months ago, the Sikh boy was targeted again when a student came and punched him in the face. The parents emailed the principal about the repeated attacks.

The principal called the erring children and they all apologized to the Sikh child, but after a few hours the same thing started again. Parents are getting nervous about sending their children to school. The principal is assuring the parents to ensure the safety of the child, but the family believes that the situation would not have been so bad if the teacher had taken immediate action when the incident first occurred. Hanover Public Schools or Peel District School Board could not be reached for comment at this time.
