IIT Kanpur cancels UP cop’s PhD programme for raping student
Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), 28 December
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has terminated the PhD program of then Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohammad Mohsin Khan, who allegedly raped a 26-year-old IIT-K researcher. The official said that the action to cancel the PhD program of 2013 batch PPS officer Mohsin Khan has been taken after the recommendation of the DGP headquarters. Mohsin was pursuing his PhD in cybercrime and criminology from Khan.
IIT Kanpur director Manindra Aggarwal said that he has received a letter from the police department stating that the NOC (No Objection Certificate) issued to Mohsin Khan to pursue his PhD program has been cancelled. The IIT-K student filed an FIR on December 24 against Mohsin Khan on criminal charges of threatening and defaming him. -News-Patiala
