In the capital of the country, Delhi, there is a fury of pollution these days. Delhi and its neighboring areas of Noida, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurugram and Faridabad, NCR are continuously recording pollution levels of 300-400 degrees Celsius, 500 degrees Celsius and more. The people of Delhi have been struggling with many problems due to pollution for the last one to one and a half months. In response to the situation, the Delhi government had shifted classes up to class V to online mode.
The order was issued for a week. After this, the schools removed the online mode and shifted the classes to the hybrid mode in the absence of any updated order from the Delhi government. This meant that students could come to school and take classes if they wanted, or study from home if they didn’t. Although pollution levels are back to normal, restrictions imposed under Group 3 have been lifted. This leads to confusion about school closure/hybrid mode.
Problems such as eye irritation, headache, cold, cough, stomach ache and vomiting have become common in Delhi due to pollution. Children and adults all struggle with different problems. Doctors believe that Delhi’s pollution is also having a profound effect on mental health. Meanwhile, many schools have sent notices to parents about resuming regular classes on Monday. This means that from Monday (December 1, 2025), children up to class 5 will attend school and attend classes. Now the hybrid mode is being suspended till further orders.
Not going to school for a long time is not an option. However, it is very important to take care of yourself during this harsh season. Therefore, it is best for children to wear N95 masks at school. This will help protect them from pollution. Similarly, schools may choose to suspend outdoor activities for extended periods of time. This will allow children to spend more time indoors and avoid exposure to outside air. If your child develops any health problem, contact the doctor immediately.
