New Delhi. Javed Akhtar filed a defamation case against Kangana Ranaut in 2020. The matter started when Kangana accused Javed Akhtar that he used Kangana out of work using his influence in Bollywood. In response, Javed Akhtar sent a defamation notice to Kangana and then the matter reached the court.

According to a news published in the Times of India, there was a session of the case in Mumbai’s Bandra Court on Tuesday, in which Kangana was to appear. However, she did not go to court. Kangana’s lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui said in the court that Kangana is busy in some important work related to Parliament, due to which she could not join this session.

Javed Akhtar’s non-bailable warrant

For Kangana not going to court, Javed Akhtar’s lawyer JK Bhardwaj filed a petition of non-bailable warrant against Kangana. He alleged that Kangana did not come to court on more than 40 dates in this case. The lawyer said that Kangana is deliberately postponing the case and contempting the court.

Giving the court ‘last chance’ to Kangana

The court directed Kangana’s counsel to file a reply on the petition. Subsequently, the magistrate gave Kangana a last chance and said that she should appear in court in the next hearing. If Kangana did not reach the court again, strict action can be taken, which may also include non-bailable warrant.
