Punjab News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has claimed to have arrested Hauldar Nachhatar Singh posted in 5th Commando Battalion Bathinda for taking an alleged bribe of 50 thousand rupees. The policeman was taking this amount of bribe in the name of Commando Drill Officer (CDO) Hauldar Tarsem Singh. On the other hand, the CDO ran away to avoid arrest.

In this regard, a case has been registered against both the accused in the Bathinda range of the Vigilance Bureau. The spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that this arrest has been made following a complaint filed by another Hauldar Parminder Singh posted in the 5th Commando Battalion.

The complainant alleged in his complaint that CDO Tarsem Singh had demanded Rs 50,000 from him in return for assisting the departmental inquiry regarding the two-year permanent dismissal from service in a police case. According to the complaint, Tarsem Singh, in his absence, asked the complainant to hand over the bribe amount to the assistant Hauldar Nachhatar Singh posted with him.

The spokesman said that acting on this information, the Vigilance Bureau conducted a preliminary investigation and the team of the Vigilance Bureau’s Bathinda unit laid a trap, during which Hauldar Nachhatar Singh was caught red-handed while accepting bribe from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. The spokesperson said that efforts are on to catch the absconding Tarsem Singh and the case is being further investigated.
