Pathankot Police has busted an inter-state gang of putting fake high security number plates on vehicles. Three accused involved in the gang have been arrested, identified as Rahul son of Roshan Lal resident of Vishnu Nagar Lamini, agent Ashwani Kumar and Sonu. They have made 200 fake high security number plates in the year 2024 and given them to common people. A case has been registered against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) in Police Station Division No. 1. Police have seized 10 motorcycles, 2 auto rickshaws and 1 car with fake high security number plates. All this operation has been done on the instructions of District Police Chief Daljinder Singh Dhillon.
DSP Sumir Singh Maan said that these accused have earned a lot of money in this Gorakhanda. He said that the vehicles which are stolen or bought from junkyards and cannot legally have high security number plates on them, such consumers fall under the pressure of this gang. They take huge money from such persons and give them fake high security number plates. These accused are in contact with another person from a foreign state, who has the machinery and die for making high security number plates. In this way, this business has been going on for a long time. DSP Sumir Singh Mann said that the three accused were produced in the court today from where two accused Ashwani Kumar and Sonu have been sent to 4-day police remand.
