Indira Bhawan Congress headquarters will be shifted to ‘Indira Bhawan’ located on Kotla Marg next week

The new headquarters of the Congress will be ‘Indira Bhavan’ on Kotla Marg, which may be inaugurated next week. Sources said that many senior Congress leaders will be present at the inauguration of the new building at 9A, Kotla Marg. This building was under construction for many years. Sources said that the party will not vacate the office at 24 Akbar Road. After the formation of Congress (I) in the year 1978, it has been the headquarters of the party.

Sources said that some units of the party will continue to function in the old headquarters. Due to lack of funds, the work on the new AICC headquarters ‘Indira Bhavan’ was delayed for several years. Sources said that initially the administration, accounts and other offices will be shifted. Many units of the Congress – Mahila Congress, Youth Congress and NSUI and many departments and cells of the party will also be shifted to the new building. Sources said that after the party’s defeat in the 1977 Lok Sabha elections, the 24, Akbar Road bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi was converted into the AICC headquarters. -News-Patiala
