Former Prime Minister of the country Dr. Amid the demand for a suitable place for Manmohan Singh’s memorial, the government has decided to set up a memorial to former President Pranab Mukherjee in the Rashtriya Smriti Sthal complex. Mukherjee passed away on 31 August 2020. Former President’s daughter Sharmishtha Mukherjee met Prime Minister Narendra Modi today and thanked him for this honor of her father.
The government has informed Sharmishtha Mukherjee about the decision by writing a letter. The government said, “Competent authority has earmarked a place for constructing the Samadhi of former President of India late Shri Pranab Mukherjee in Rashtriya Smriti Complex (part of Rajghat).” After receiving this letter, Sharmishtha Mukherjee thanked the Prime Minister. He asked for a time to meet them. Mukherjee told this news agency that he is happy that the government has recognized the contribution of his late father and former president to the country. The space for Mukherjee’s memorial has been allotted on such occasions when the former Prime Minister Dr. A demand has been made to give a suitable place for Manmohan Singh’s memorial. According to sources, the government has already agreed to build a memorial for Singh and the site at the Rashtriya Smriti Sthal is being finalized in consultation with the family. -News-Patiala
