Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s health deteriorated after addressing the Kisan Mahapanchayat held on Saturday at Khanuri border. A team of doctors is examining them. It may be mentioned that after addressing Kisan Mahapanchayat for 11 minutes, Kisan leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal fainted and vomited. The medical team said that Dallewal was brought back to the tent due to drop in blood pressure.

Former DIG Narinder Bhargava Khanuri reached the border after getting information about Dallewal’s health. Narendra Bhargava was among the officials who went to talk to the farmer leader earlier. Officials said that the health department team has also been kept ready.

Dallewal had agreed to undergo blood, urine and ECG tests on Friday evening before the Kisan Mahapanchayat. It was only after reports that his condition was confirmed to be stable and he was taken to the stage in an ambulance around 2 pm.

Dallewal is kept in a glass room with more than 100 tractor-trolleys attached to each other and around 700 volunteers are looking after the place. Sources said that this has been done to prevent a repeat of the November 26 incident where the farmer leader was taken to a hospital in Ludhiana after the police barged into the tent on the Khanuri border.

Dr. The medical team led by Avtar Singh Dhillon said they were worried about Dallewal’s health as his blood pressure was dropping during the address. Dr. Dhillon said that while being taken back to the tent, Dallewal felt dizzy and his blood pressure suddenly dropped.

On the 40th day of his indefinite hunger strike, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Saturday vowed to continue the struggle until the Center gives a legal guarantee on the minimum support price of crops. During his 11-minute address, he appealed to farmers’ organizations of other states to start such a fight for MSP to send a message to the Center that it is not a struggle of Punjab alone.

Addressing Dallewal, he said, “This is a do or die battle. I will not end my fast till the law guaranteeing minimum support price for crops is implemented. We want legal guarantees as per the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee (Agriculture).”
