An official of Raj Niwas gave this information today. He informed that applicants have been given relaxation in required educational qualification and age limit has been increased to 55 years for all 88 applicants. Exemption has been granted for their appointment as miscellaneous duty employees in various government departments. A note issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s office said, “Repeated demands were made in this regard by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, public representatives and victims’ groups, who met the Lieutenant Governor recently.” A rehabilitation package including job provision for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots was approved by the Union Home Ministry on January 16, 2006. -News-Patiala
