Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that CBSE’s decision to hold board exams twice a year will be implemented from the next academic session 2026-27, a media report said. Not only this, preparations are also being made to implement the semester system in class 11 and 12, based on the recommendations of the National Education Policy. Dharmendra Pradhan said that the CBSE board’s decisions to conduct exams twice a year and to implement semester system in higher secondary classes will bring many reforms in the education system.
New Rules of CBSE Exams:
Regarding the CBSE board exams, it has already been clarified by the Ministry of Education that it will not be mandatory for students of class 10th and 12th to take the exams twice a year. This option is being provided to reduce the stress related to the examination. Let us tell you that many youngsters are worried about the fact that board exams come once in a year. If he fails in this, his entire year will be wasted. This system is being implemented to get rid of these worries and stress.
The benefits will be: Suppose a student of CBSE 10th and 12th is appearing for the board exam and he is not satisfied with his marks, then since this exam is conducted twice in a year, he can appear again in the next board exam. In such a case, if a student appears in both the board exams, only his best score will be counted and the resulting merit list will be prepared on that basis.
Recommendations in the National Education Policy:
The National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) recommends that board examination candidates should be allowed to sit for the board examinations twice so that they can get their best marks and retain the best marks in both the examinations. . The Union Education Ministry has asked CBSE to prepare for its implementation from the next academic session 2025-26.
