A speeding tipper overturned a motorcycle rider near Pangoli Chowk here last night. The young man died on the spot due to this accident. The deceased has been identified as Jagir Singh (42). As soon as the news of the death was received, the family members of the deceased and other villagers reached the spot. On this occasion, they staged a dharna on the road while shouting slogans against the administration and stopped the traffic on the road. On receiving the information, DSP Lakhwinder Singh Randhawa and SHO Manpreet Kaur reached the spot. After they assured to take strict action against the tipper driver, the villagers opened the jam. The protestors said that every day some accidents happen on this road due to high speed tippers bringing river bed material. This is the fourth road accident in a month and a half. They demanded that the movement of tippers on this road should be stopped. Madan Lal, a resident of Akhwana village, the brother of the deceased, said that his brother Jagir Singh used to support his family by working hard. The family members demanded that strict action be taken against the driver and the tipper owner who carried out the accident. Investigating officer Kuldeep Raj ASI, who came to investigate, said that the tipper has been seized and the cause of the accident is being investigated. Today, the police conducted a post-mortem on the body of the deceased and handed over the body to the heirs.
The body of the young man was found under the bridge
Pathankot (Pattar Prerak): The body of a young man has been recovered under suspicious circumstances from the Manwal Khad Bridge on the road from Khanpur Chowk to Pangoli Chowk. The deceased has been identified as Sanjeev Kumar (28), son of Harbhajan Das, resident of village Ghoh. Shahpurkandi police chief Manpreet Kaur said that they had received information that a body of a young man was lying under the said bridge. As soon as the information was received, the police team reached the spot and the body was taken into possession. The parents of the deceased youth have also been called for identification. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the parents. He further said that the cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report.
