Ravichandran Ashwin: Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket

Brisbane, 18 December

India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashivan has surprised everyone by announcing his immediate retirement from international cricket during the Test series against Australia on Wednesday. Ashiwan has taken the most wickets (537) after Anil Kumble (619). However, Ashivan will continue to play club cricket. “I will not take more of your time,” Ashiwan said during a joint press conference with captain Rohit Sharma after the third Test match in Brisbane was drawn. This is my last day as a cricketer of the Indian team. Ashivan took a wicket in a pink-ball Test match in Adelaide. Rohit said after Ashivan’s departure, “He is quite confident about his decision. We should respect his wish.” Before the announcement of Unj Sanyas, Ashiwan was seen getting emotional with Virat Kohli in the dressing room. On the other hand, BCCI wrote on X, “Ashivan is another name for skill, skill, talent and innovation.”-News-Patiala
