Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge led the party to pay tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence on Friday. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi offered floral wreaths on his dead body.

In his condolence message, Rahul Gandhi said, “Manmohan Singh led India with immense intellect and integrity. His humility and deep understanding of economics inspired the nation. My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Kaur and family. I have lost a mentor and guide. Millions of us will remember him with great pride.” Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal, Devendra Yadav and many other party leaders were also present at the former Prime Minister’s residence.
It may be mentioned that the last rites of the former prime minister will be performed on Saturday, before which his body will be kept for public viewing at the office of the All India Congress Committee here. The cremation will take place on Saturday afternoon near Rajghat, the place where Prime Ministers are cremated. – IANS
