New Delhi, December 27
Seven days of state mourning will be observed across the country in memory of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The Union Home Ministry has announced that the national flag will be flown at half-mast throughout India during this period. In a communication to all chief secretaries of states and union territories on Thursday, the home ministry also said that there will be no official entertainment program during the period of state mourning.
The communication states that the Government of India announces with deep sorrow the death of former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh on 26 December 2024 at AIIMS Hospital, New Delhi. As a mark of respect to the departed, it has been decided that seven days of state mourning will be observed across India from 26 December 2024 to 1 January 2025, the Home Ministry said.
The Home Ministry said that the national flag will also be flown at half-mast in all Indian missions and high commissions abroad on the day of the funeral. News-Patiala
