Former Supreme Court judge Madan Lokur appointed Chairperson of UN Internal Justice Council

Former Supreme Court Judge Justice Madan B. Lokur has been appointed as the Chairperson of the United Nations Internal Justice Council (UNIJC). Judges/lawyers from all over the world are included in this council for a period of four years. Other members of the Council include Ms. Carmen Artigues (Uruguay), Ms. Rosalie Balkin (Australia), Stefan Brezina (Austria) and Jay Poznell (USA). In 2019, Justice Lokur was appointed as a non-resident panel judge at the Supreme Court of Fiji. He was the first Indian judge to be appointed as a judge in the Supreme Court of another country.
