Farmer Protest: The Supreme Court of India on Saturday warned Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav that if farmer leader Jagjit Singh If Jagjit Singh Dallewal (Jagjit Singh Dallewal) is not followed by the orders of the apex court to be admitted to the hospital, charges of contempt of court will be set against him for violating the orders of the court. It is to be noted that farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been fasting since November 26.

This order has been issued by the bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia. The court is hearing a petition seeking contempt of court action against the Punjab government for not complying with the Supreme Court order. The petition was filed by Labh Singh of SAS Nagar (Mohali), on which the Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the Punjab government for ‘failing’ to implement the court order to transport Dallewal to the hospital and the hearing will be held today. was postponed until

“This is a case of contempt of court and what the next step will be, everyone knows,” the bench told the two top officials of the state, who were virtually present during the hearing. How can charges not be made against the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police? Why should charges not be fixed? It is the logical course of action for defamation.”

Punjab Advocate General Gurminder Singh told the bench, “Mr. Dallewal is refusing to go to the hospital and the farmers there are also not allowing it… There is a danger that if he If they are (forcibly) taken to the hospital, there may be loss of life and property on both sides – the farmers and the police.” The advocate general added, “There should be an attempt at reconciliation before the conflict.… We are helpless and in dire straits.”

While issuing a notice to the Punjab government on Friday, the bench had said, “Dallewal should be given medical attention and it is to the effect that you are not complying with it.” Expressing concern for Dallewal’s life and safety, the bench said, “We are very eager to see how you comply with our orders to admit him to the hospital. We are not saying much but the next hearing of the matter will be on Saturday.”

Earlier last week, a bench headed by Justice Kant had ordered the Punjab government to ensure safety of Dallewal’s health and directed him to be hospitalized. The Supreme Court in its order had said, “It is the responsibility of the Punjab State to ensure the stable health condition of Mr. Jagjit Singh Dallewal, for which if he needs to be admitted to the hospital, the authorities should ensure that they do so. Therefore, the state government should decide whether Mr. Dallewal can be admitted to a temporary hospital (which is said to have been set up 700 meters away from the fast-breaking site), or shifted to another real hospital. .”

It is to be noted that since November 26, Dallewal has been on fast to death for his long-pending demands on the Dhabi Gujran/Khanuri border of Punjab and Haryana. This 70-year-old leader is also a cancer patient.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Senior Additional Advocate General Lokesh Sinhal appeared in the court on behalf of the Haryana government. The Haryana government has supported Dallewal’s transfer to the hospital in view of his critical health.
