New Delhi, 21 December
Ahead of the Delhi assembly elections, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sukhbir Singh Dalal today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The former MLA from Mundka took BJP membership in the presence of state unit president Virender Sachdeva, Union Ministers Harsh Malhotra and Ashish Sood at the Delhi BJP office. Balbir Singh, who was a six-time member of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, also joined the BJP. Sachdeva has appointed him as the secretary of Delhi Pradesh BJP. Dalal claimed that he had strongly raised the issue of the sports university project while he was an MLA, but despite the passage of many years, not a single brick was laid. He accused the AAP of deviating from its anti-corruption pledge, while praising the BJP’s initiative in rural areas of Delhi. Praveen Shankar Kapur, media chief of BJP’s Delhi unit, former MLA Nitin Tyagi and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) councilor sister Preeti were also present on the occasion. -News-Patiala
