During a major upheaval in the political scene of the national capital, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed its displeasure with the Congress, the main party of the India Block, and has demanded that AAP withdraw the Congress from the alliance. Plans are being made to talk to the rest of the India alliance partners.
AAP sources said that there is a lot of resentment in the party over the statements made by Congress leaders about AAP and the demand to file an FIR against party convener Arvind Kejriwal.
It may be noted that the Youth Congress had filed a complaint against Kejriwal a day earlier, accusing him of misleading voters and engaging in fraudulent activities. In the complaint filed in the Parliament Street police station, there was a demand to file an FIR against Kejriwal regarding his election promises, which were rejected by two departments of the Delhi government yesterday.
An AAP leader alleged, “We will talk to the India Bloc partners and demand the expulsion of the Congress from the alliance. The Congress is actually working together with the BJP.”
It is to be noted that a controversy started on Wednesday when two departments of the Delhi government issued notices in newspapers warning the public about the two welfare schemes recently announced by Chief Minister Atishi and his predecessor Arvind Kejriwal. The registration process was canceled. The ruling party AAP had termed the notices as ‘fake and baseless’ and insisted that administrative and legal action would be taken against officials who published such advertisements.
It is to be noted that the Delhi Assembly elections are to be held in February, for which AAP has recently launched two welfare schemes – Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana – to attract voters. was announced Under the Mahila Samman Yojana, the AAP will provide a mask subsidy of Rs 2,100 to women respectively and full health coverage for senior citizens has been promised under the Sanjeevani Yojana.
Kejriwal has accused the BJP of arm-twisting government officials and pressuring them to issue notices. He said, “The BJP is scared of the popularity of these schemes and does not want the people of Delhi to benefit.” He clarified that the Delhi Cabinet has already approved the scheme of giving Rs 1,000 to every woman and a notification has been issued in this regard.
