Patiala, Punjab: An MBBS student of the Government Medical College was crushed to death by a speeding truck near Dhablan village on Tuesday night. The victim, Arshdeep Singh, was a resident of Bathinda. The truck driver, who was allegedly driving in an inebriated state, has been arrested.
According to the police, Arshdeep was on his way back home with his father, Jagmail Singh, when he got off the vehicle to attend to a nature’s call near Dhablan village. A speeding truck then hit their vehicle, crushing Arshdeep’s head under its wheels.
Arshdeep was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. A case has been registered against the truck driver under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
