Jalandhar Son Kills Parents and Brother over Property Dispute

Jalandhar, Punjab: On Thursday, a 30-year-old son killed his parents and brother by shooting them seven times over a property dispute in Tower Enclave Phase-3 of Jalandhar. The youth’s father worked as a security guard and had two licensed guns.

The deceased have been identified as Jagbir Singh (father), Amritpal Kaur (mother), and Gagandeep Singh (brother). The accused has been identified as Harpreet Singh. The police of Lambra police station have registered a case against the accused under various sections, including murder and the Arms Act.

DSP of Kartarpur said that Harpreet committed the incident at around 2.30 pm. After this, he went to the theater to watch a comedy movie. After this, he came to Lambra police station and surrendered, confessing his crime. He told the police that he had come for the murder and that the dead bodies of the three were lying in his house in Tower Enclave Phase-3.

The police immediately reached the spot and took the accused into custody. They recovered the blood-soaked bodies of the three and two licensed weapons from the incident site. Raghuveer Singh, the brother of the deceased Jagbir, said that his son Harpreet Singh had a dispute over the property for a long time and used to abuse them often.

No one had any fear that the matter would escalate to this extent. He wanted to occupy the house and lived separately with his wife and two children. Jagdish’s house is at the back of his house. But he did not know that bullets were fired at the time of the incident.

Raghuveer Singh said that Jagbir Singh lived with his family in a village in Ajnala of Amritsar. But both brothers wanted to stay together. Due to which Jagbir Singh had taken a place in Tower Enclave Phase-3 and built a house. Here he worked as a security guard.

When the information given by the accused was confirmed, there was an atmosphere of panic in the entire area. The people of the entire area were scared due to the murder of three persons in a peaceful area. The SHO of Lambra police station who reached the spot immediately informed his superiors about the matter.

After which Jalandhar Rural Police SSP Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar reached the spot late at night for investigation. The forensic team has taken several samples from the spot which have been sent for investigation. Harpreet fired about 7 bullets from a single barrel 12 bore gun. He fired 5 bullets at the father, shooting him on the waist, neck, and head. He also fired one bullet on the neck of mother and brother. After the incident, he ran away leaving them there in pain.

According to the police, they have recovered two double-barreled and single-barreled guns from the incident site. The police have registered a case against Harpreet on the basis of Raghveer Singh’s statements.
