Bloody Clash Between Prisoners in Patiala Central Jail

Patiala, October 8, 2023: A bloody clash broke out between prisoners in Patiala Central Jail on October 8, 2023, over a minor dispute. More than three prisoners were injured in the fight, and one of them is in critical condition. The seriously injured prisoner has been admitted to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.Confirming the incident, Tripuri police station in-charge Pradeep Singh Bajwa said that the process of taking the prisoner’s statement is going on, after which a case will be registered.

6 mobiles and other goods recovered from the jail, 4 cases registered

6 mobile phones and other items have been recovered from Central Jail Patiala. In this regard, the police of Tripuri police station have registered 4 cases. In the first case, on the complaint of Assistant Jail Superintendent Jagjit Singh, a case has been registered under 42 and 52 A Prison Act against unknown persons. According to the jail administration, 1 mobile without SIM card was recovered from inside the seat of the bathroom of Chakki No: 5.

In the second case, a case has been registered under 52 A of the Prison Act against accused Rinku son of Golu Ram, resident of Baldev Nagar, Ambala and unknown persons, on the complaint of Karnail Singh, Assistant Jail Superintendent of Jail. According to the jail administration, a mobile phone was recovered from Rinku during a physical search, while a mobile phone buried in the ground was recovered during a surprise search of cell number 5-6.

In the third case, on the complaint of Assistant Jail Superintendent Harbans Singh, a case has been registered under 42, 52 of the Prison Act against the suspect Loveprem Singh Untar Rosa Gir resident of village Sahab Nagar Thehri Police Station Urban Estate Patiala and unknown persons. According to the jail administration, a mobile phone was recovered during the physical search of convict Lovepreet Singh. While a packet was thrown from outside by a person in Bhatta barracks. When it was opened and checked, 10 jars and 1 mobile phone were recovered from it.

In this other case, on the complaint of the Assistant Superintendent of Jail Harbans Singh, a case has been registered under 52 A of the Prison Act against the prisoner Jasvir Singh son of Shivdev Singh, a resident of Lighta Police Station Banur. According to the jail administration, 1 mobile phone was recovered during physical search of prisoner Jasvir Singh.
